allen_suzanne.… and I am so pleased to be a part of the organization that is the leading voice and premier resource for Ohio philanthropy. After just a week as president, it is very clear to me that Philanthropy Ohio has a remarkable and very capable staff. I am also certain that George Espy’s leadership, together with the counsel and guidance of our Board of Trustees, has created a sustainable plan for us to realize our vision and live our mission:

Vision: To be the leading voice and premier resource for philanthropy in Ohio.

Mission: Philanthropy Ohio is an association of foundations, corporate giving programs and other individuals and organizations actively involved in philanthropy in Ohio. Its mission is to provide leadership for philanthropy in Ohio and to enhance the ability of members to fulfill their charitable goals.

Yet these are challenging times. Many pundits are predicting that the Fiscal Cliff deal will see charities facing difficult financial times, which is one reason why the work of Philanthropy Ohio is so crucial. Our major focus is to help grantmakers achieve a greater collective impact on important issues facing Ohio. Through our many programs, networking opportunities, research and advocacy efforts, we want to be your most trusted representative and your preferred provider of what matters most in all things philanthropic in Ohio.

We are beginning a new year, with new leadership and a new name. Our strong commitment to our members is to represent and serve Ohio’s entire philanthropic sector—advocating for our members, convening thought leaders and demonstrating the value of philanthropy in Ohio.  With your support, we will continue to move forward. As Rosabeth Moss Kanter said, “Our future will be shaped by the assumptions we make about who we are and what we can be”…. and it’s a great time to be part of Philanthropy Ohio!

Happy New Year,

Suzanne T. Allen, Ph.D.
